Join BTCEB in celebrating community, culture and cinema

Freehub PRESENTS, brought to you by Arkansas Tourism, is a collection of films from not only some of the best filmmakers and riders but also new up-and-comers, all given the proper big screen experience. The multi-stop film festival honors top and emerging filmmakers, riders, leaders, and storytellers who will shape the sport for generations to come. Cinematic events and coast-to-coast independent events celebrate community, culture, and cinema while benefiting nonprofit trail advocacy organizations like BTCEB!

If you haven’t seen one of these MTB film festivals from Freehub Presents before, you’re really missing out. They’re a stoke-inspiring treat! Here’s a link to the trailer — in case you still aren’t convinced.

BTCEB will host a viewing of the MTB film festival at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland’s Uptown district on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Ticket sales benefit BTCEB.

EBRPD Director election filing closes

We’ve got 3 races!

You’ve got an opportunity to make a difference in mountain bike access in the East Bay by participating in the general election on November 3, 2026  Filing has closed for the East Bay Regional Park District Director elections: four Director seats are up for election, and voters will have a choice between candidates in three of those wards. Even if you don’t live in a ward that is up for election this year or has a contested race, the directors elected in those races will have an impact on your park experiences for years to come.  We urge you to be aware, get informed, and connect with people you know — especially with voters in contested races.  The EBRPD Directors are the elected decision makers for the park district.  Ultimately they make decisions on bike access, prioritizing projects, allocating funding, and many decisions driving the park district. 4 of the 7 EBRPD Wards are up for election this year.  All of the incumbent directors except Ward 3’s Dennis Waespi are running.  Dennis Waespi had been the Ward 3 director since 2015.

As a 501(c)3 organization, BTCEB cannot endorse candidates.  We are limited to educational activities and get-out-the-vote type activities.  To that effect, we want you to be engaged and informed on these races.  Alameda County elections provides candidate websites and email addresses, and we’ve shown those below.  Contra Costa elections department does not provide this currently, but we will update this page with that information if it becomes available.

We plan to do candidate surveys in the near future and share the responses.

Are YOU registered to vote?

We’ve got a couple of significant East Bay Regional Park District Races coming up for the general election on November 3, 2026.  We urge you to participate in the election.  In order to vote you need to be registered.   You can verify whether or not you’re registered here.

If you’re not registered to vote, please register now! Here are links by county for more information, links to register online, and details about in-person voter registration drives:

What You Will Need

To register online you will need:

• your California driver license or California identification card number,
• the last four digits of your social security number and
• your date of birth.

Your information will be provided to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to retrieve a copy of your DMV signature.

If you do not have a California driver license or California identification card, you can still use this form to apply to register to vote. However, you will need to take additional steps to complete your voter registration.

EBRPD and EBMUD board meeting agendas by email

Both EBRPD and EBMUD now offer the possibility of receiving board meeting agendas by email. This will save you from needing to check their websites again and again to see if the agendas have been posted before an upcoming meeting, and reading the agendas regularly will keep you more up-to-date on what’s going on with both of these major Bay Area land managers.

EBRPD

The signup section is on the Public Meetings page of EBRPD’s website. Scroll down close to the bottom under the heading “Board Meeting Agenda E-Mail Signup”, fill out the form, and the agendas should start showing up in your email inbox.

Just what you need, one more email, right? But if you’re looking to advocate or stay informed on what the board is discussing or other activity at EBRPD, this is a good place to check in.

EBMUD

There are 3 steps to follow to sign up for receiving EBMUD board meeting agendas by email:

1. First you’ll need to create an EBMUD ID and then click on a link that will be emailed to you in order to activate your account. If you already have an EBMUD ID, then you’ll just need to sign in with that ID on EBMUD’s website and can skip directly to Step #3.
2. Next, you’ll need to activate your EBMUD ID by clicking on a link that you’ll receive by email.
3. Once you’re signed into the EBMUD website with your EBMUD ID, go to My Subscriptions > Topics. Find Meeting Agendas and select Board of Directors. Once you’re done, select Update to save your preferences.

EBMUD’s board meetings are held on Tuesdays at 1:15 PM, with committee meetings held in the morning prior to the regular board meeting. Meetings are held in person at the William “Bill” Patterson Boardroom, EBMUD Administration Building, 375 11th Street, in Oakland. All regular board meetings are live-streamed and available for virtual participation via Zoom. Meeting recordings are posted on EBMUD’s YouTube channel.

EBMUD’s remaining board meetings for 2026 are: September 8, October 13 and 27, November 10, and December 8.
