Ride Like A Girl - China Camp State Park - Sat Sept 4th, 9:00am

Womens RideThe BTCEB women's ride will be visiting China Camp State Park. China Camp is primarily really fun singletrack with a few spots that will challenge beginners...but it is alway ok to walk. We'll do a 12 mile loop which includes one sustained climb to the top. Once at the top we have an amazing view of Mt. Tam.

We will meet at 9:00 am at the ranger kiosk on North San Pedro Rd that leads into the Back Ranch Meadows Camp Site. We hit the trail at 9:15.

The emphasis of these rides will be fun and to meet other women who love to ride. We have rides geared towards all level of riders with experience leaders. Plan on a 2-3 hour ride depending on your pace. Members and nonmembers welcome.

If you have questions or want to help please email Karen. RSVP on the Group Ride calendar.

Attend a BTCEB general meeting - first Tuesday of the month

meetingBeen telling yourself that you want to get more involved with the club? Here is your chance. The next BTCEB meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 7th at the Round Table Pizza, 2854 Mountain Blvd, Oakland (next to Joaquin Miller Park).

If you have issues about a local park, or suggestions of how the club can be more effective, this is a great way to express those points of view. If you just wish to listen, that's just fine.

The meeting lasts from 7pm to 9pm and includes FREE pizza. Then those that are interested may move to a local bar for informal discussions and beer following the meeting (which is a good enough reason to attend in itself).

Big Trees reroute - Joaquin Miller Park - Fri, Sat & Sun Sept 10-12th

Big Trees Trail workWe were out yesterday laying out the re-route for Big Trees Trail in Joaquin Miller Park. The current trail is over-grade, causing it to significantly widen and erode. The reroute will create a new, longer contour trail, with lower grades. BTCEB, a critical partner in the project, has hired Jim Jacobson from Bicycle Trails Council of Marin (and the trail designer for Tamarancho) to design the new trail. A meaningful benefit to cyclists will be that Big Trees will no longer be subject to seasonal closures, which was instituted during the rainy season (since 2000), and keep a major loop opportunity in the park open year round.

We need volunteers! As part of the work, volunteers will be able to camp Friday and Saturday nights in the park. Food is also provided for volunteers from breakfast Saturday through lunch Sunday.
