Signups Are Open for Ride Like a Girl on October 15th at China Camp

After last month’s wonderful ride in Santa Cruz, our women’s series is heading North to China Camp State Park in San Rafael. Join ride leader Rebecca Lewington on Saturday, October 15th along San Pedro Road by the Miwok Meadows trailhead sign. We’ll start to gather at 8:30am, which will give us plenty of time to sign in and talk about the ride before we roll at 9am.

We’re going to split into two groups. The Teal group will stick to the flowy singletrack on the “front side” and cover about 11 miles and 1,300 feet of climbing. (Teal, because the difficulty level is somewhere between green and blue.) This is a great option for less-experienced riders.

The Denim group will add a loop featuring some of the more challenging, narrow bits on the “back side”. (I’ll let you work out what Denim means in this context.) This group will do 14 miles with about 1,900 feet of climbing. Fear not, we’ll steer clear of the truly crazy bits.

There is a $3 daily trail use fee, but that’s a small price to pay to support this volunteer-powered park. Purchase day passes at electronic pay stations or with cash at “iron rangers” throughout the park. You can also buy annual Passes at electronic pay stations, or online here.

As always, the mission of Ride Like a Girl is to have fun, learn new trails and meet other women who love to mountain bike. We’ll take care of you: these are stress-free rides where no one is left behind.

Please bring your mountain bike, obviously, in good working condition. (No ebikes, please. Ride Like a Girl is strictly muscle-powered.) Whether you’re running tubeless tires or not, please make sure you have a spare inner tube to fit your wheels, plenty of water and some food for the trail.

We always hang out for a while after the ride, so bring along your favorite beverages and snacks if you feel like it. And a chair!

If you have questions, please comment at the signup link and we’ll get right back to you.
