BTCEB, in partnership with the Bay Area Bike Project, is hosting a special edition of Ride Like a Girl, our women’s ride series, to coincide with the Bay Area Bike Swap festival on May 6th, 2023.
We’re going to ride Lime Ride, starting and finishing from the event at Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek, CA. We’ll have a BTCEB booth in the Women’s Corner at the festival so come check us out after the ride and enjoy everything the festival has to offer!
Sign up at https://www.meetup.com/bicycletrailscouncil/events/293001613/
Join ride leader Rebecca Lewington at 8:30am at Heather Farm Park at 301 N San Carlos Dr., Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Park in the first lot on the right just off Ignacio Valley Road. Look for the sign next to the bathrooms and the baseball diamond.
We’ll gather up for a quick huddle to talk about the ride at about 8:45, and roll at 9:00 am. We’ll be back in plenty of time to enjoy the festival. Our ride will cover about 15 miles with 1,600 of climb. If that sounds like a lot, fear not! That includes a three-mile flat warm up on our way to Lime Ridge and the same on the way back. This won’t be a very technical ride, so less-experienced riders will be fine.
The mission of Ride Like a Girl is to have fun, learn new trails and meet other women (cis, trans and femme) who love to mountain bike. We’ll take care of you: these are no-stress rides where no one is left behind.
Please bring your mountain bike, obviously, in good working condition. (No ebikes, please. Ride Like a Girl is strictly acoustic.) Whether you’re running tubeless tires or not, please make sure you have a spare inner tube to fit your wheels, plenty of water and some food for the trail.
And please join BTCEB! We are much more than a group that puts on rides. BTCEB tirelessly advocates for better bike access on trails in the East Bay and we need your support. Join today at https://btceb.org/join-us/.
And after you’ve joined BTCEB, consider donating to the Bay Area Bike Project, a wonderful group that mobilizes people through the Power of Bicycles. They are committed to getting more kids on bikes, bike education and advocating for safe biking communities.
If you have questions, please comment at the Meetup link and we’ll get right back to you.
