Welcoming EBMUD Director Joey Smith and Looking to the Future

Our advocacy efforts with EBMUD, the East Bay water utility company, continue to make strides. As you know, EBMUD manages vital watershed lands that are open for public recreation, and BTCEB has been actively working to expand mountain biking opportunities within these areas. We’re pleased to report that our collaborative relationship with EBMUD is strengthening, and we’re seeing positive momentum towards our shared goals of responsible recreation and land stewardship.

Recently, BTCEB board member Casey Chaudry had the pleasure of meeting and congratulating EBMUD Director Joey Smith, Ward 1, a newly elected board member of EBMUD, at a local community engagement event. We were thrilled to learn that Director Joey Smith is not only familiar with BTCEB’s work but also a strong supporter of biking and mountain biking. We extend our warmest congratulations to Director Smith on her new role and look forward to working closely with her to increase mountain biking access on the lands managed by EBMUD. This new connection provides a fantastic opportunity to further our advocacy efforts and create more sustainable trail experiences for our community.
