Bike Bells

Help support BTCEB’s bell program by sending a donation directly to us.

Mullti-use trails are the bulk of our local trail systems, and they’re very popular with equestrians, hikers and cyclists alike. BTCEB wants to address the potential for trail conflict by doing our part to improve trail etiquette and make all users feel as safe as possible. One way we hope to accomplish this is by providing bells for all trail users. Wearing a bell, whether you are riding a bike, a horse, walking or running, will make it easier to let users know where you are and avoid surprise encounters. Continuous bells work particularly well beyond sight lines compared to manually ringing.

To make things easier for all, BTCEB works with land managers to install and manage loaner bell stations at popular local parks.

The way it works…

  1. Grab a bell from one of the bell stations;
  2. Strap the bell to your handle bars, saddle, pack or belt loop;
  3. Let it ring!;
  4. Return the bell to any bell station OR donate $5 at www.btceb.org/bells keep the bell and we’ll buy more!

Currently we’ve partnered with EBRPD, Regional Parks Foundation, and REI on stations at the Alhambra Creek Staging Area at Briones Regional Park and at Crockett Hills Regional Park and we’re hoping to expand in EBRPD. We are partnering with Friends of Joaquin Miller Park on a couple of stations coming soon to JMP.

We hope that you find using a bell improves the experience for all trail users in our shared open spaces. If you’d like a bell that is easier to turn off when riding up climbs with good sight lines, stop by one of our sponsor shops and invest in one.
